What is a Procureur?
Each Parish has two Procureurs du Bien Public who act as public trustees, charged with looking after the finances of the Parish and caring for the Parish property. Property includes all assets of the Parish, not just buildings and land. Procureurs are elected for three-year terms with one Procureur being elected every 18 months.
The Comité de Connétables issued Guidance for Procureurs last year. In it they list the desired skills and experience as
· Having a high level of integrity and good standing in the Parish;
· Having a good understanding of accounting and budgeting processes;
· Having management and interpersonal skills;
· Having the ability to use good judgement and reason; and
· Enjoying the utmost confidence of the electors of the Parish.
Through my time in the Honorary Police, through my time leading Grouville Battle of Flowers, through my professional qualifications including as an accountant and through my professional life I believe I have more than demonstrated that I have the first four skills, through this contested election I hope to demonstrate the last.
